What is a Christian?

Is a Christian someone who was born in a Christian country?

Is a Christian someone who was born into a Christian family?

Is a Christian someone who believes in the existence of God & Jesus Christ?

None of these are correct.

The Bible says, "Jesus answered and said unto him. Verily, Verily, I say unto thee. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3 v 3.

So how do you become born again as a Christian?

To become a Christian you must believe in Jesus and that he died to save you from your sins and from Hell. You must repent of your sins and ask God to forgive you. Then simply ask Jesus to save you and you will be born again as a Christian.

1. BELIEVE

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3 v 16.

2. REPENT

"I tell you, Nay: but expect ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13 v 3.

3. RECEIVE

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." John 1 v 12.

Jesus is the only Son of God, but Christians become his adopted sons. Once you are a Christian you are part of His family, and no-one can snatch you out of His hand. Being a Christian requires you to change and be different from the world. You can only do this by relying on God to help you. The Christian life is not always an easy one, but God is always with you along the way. The rewards for a Christian are in heaven, not on earth. When we become a part of God's family, He is our Father, and He will discipline them when they do wrong, just as any good father should discipline their children for their own benefit. For the non Christian, punishment for sin comes in hell when they die. The Bible tells us that there is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus, who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14 v 6). Jesus was either the Son of God or He was the greatest con man to ever live. You cannot believe that He was just a good man, because if He was not the Son of God He was a liar. Jesus came down from heaven to die on the cross to save sinners.
